Process journal
20th November
First, I thought of two general topics, Leonardo da Vinci, Football. I chose these two topics because football is my favourite sport and one of my hobbies, I chose Leonardo da Vinci as well because I have always been fascinated with his creations. I then cut it down to general questions: What is the history of football? What were Leonardo da Vinci’s inventions? I then decided to make the questions more specific: How was football created in England? What were Leonardo da Vinci’s war inventions and why did he make them? I eventually chose Leonardo da Vinci as I already know a lot about football and I would like to know more about Leonardo da Vinci as I do not currently know that much about him. I plan to finish the project by the weekend before we hand it in, at the latest.
10th December
There has now been a major change! I am now working with George Kapff as he asked me if he could join me in this topic and I said yes because he looked genuinely interested. I am happy with this change as now, with two people, we can research into greater detail of the topic. We decided to have our personal project on a website, as it can be edited quickly and easily, and more importantly we can both access it from different locations. I also liked it because it was a nice idea thinking how anyone will be able to access this and it will be stored on the internet for a very long time! Last iMind lesson me and George brainstormed thoroughly and finally came up with a question: How have Leonardo da Vinci's inventions affected the world today.
Christmas holidays
A lot of researching and planning needs to be done in these holidays. George and I found a brilliant book called "Leonardo's machines" during an iMind lesson, unfortunately a teacher borrowed it before us, so we are planning to get it in the spring term. We had arranged a meeting with our mentor, Father David. Unfortunately, George and I both forgot to go and he was away in Rome for the last week so we will meet next term.
Just remembered about our project, too many lie-ins and meeting friends! I have decided to work on the layout of the website and the tabs on it. Just put in some websites for research in our bibliography and added some pictures. I feel George and I could have been more productive so far if we communicated more as I haven't spoken to him since we broke up.
George and I just chatted on facebook, and we have decided to do two inventions each as we need to limit ourselves because of how many inventions Da Vinci has thought of. It was very hard to choose, I narrowed it down to five: the armored car, the robotic knight, the machine gun, the printing press and the underwater diving suit. I have decided to choose the armored car as it looks like a very interesting design that can do lots of damage! My second choice was the printing press as it was an important step forward in the spread of information between the human race.

1st Half term
We have now had a very interesting meeting with our mentor, he was very helpful and gave us 2 books with some chocolate biscuits on the side. George and I, noticed yesterday that both the books are focusing on Da Vinci's art but that is no problem as we will soon get some books from the library.
Unable to get much work done in the first half term due to homework and match fixtures. As well as that, this half term I am going to the Maldives so I am unlikely to do any work there either. Will have to do some next half-term!
2nd Half Term
My holiday was great, but now it is time to get to work. One of my main problems in this project is thinking of stuff to write in my process journal but I soon realized that is part of the project, having problems and overcoming them. My first task this half term was to get the Leonardo's machines book and I have done that (as shown below)

Furthermore, I needed to research a lot on the armored vehicle to enhance my knowledge on the subject and but most importantly, to check my information was reliable. I believe I have done that as I used many books and what I believe to be reliable websites by cross-checking information.
Easter Holidays
Most of the final product must be done in this gap without homework or fixtures. I will try to focus on this project although I have an important one in History to do as well, so I will have to manage my time wisely.
Just researched on what the background of Da Vinci just for a general overview on the topic. I also downloaded a font which would make me type like Da Vinci. He had quite scruffy handwriting and wrote backwards to make it harder to decipher. This is what my name would look like if Da Vinci wrote it.

Anyway, he was born on April 15, 1452 and he actually lived quite a long time until may 2, 1519 aged 67. He did so many unbelievable things in his life time, he painted the mona lisa, invented a flying machine, as well as having a correct theory on tectonic plates. It is so hard to explain how much he has done, in a small paragraph on my process journal, so I am going to leave it brief and say that he has to be the most talented human being to ever live if you look at how diverse and great his talents were.
I am now at school after trying to put all my research into my final product. I have just done the armored car after looking for a video to demonstrate the design more clearly.. I need to do finish odd my project on the weekends so I have layed out a few tasks for my self.
Saturday: Research for printing press
Sunday: Write about the printing press
Next Saturday: Do the format for the website and add in pictures.
Next Sunday: Write the conclusion.
Monday 12th May: Have a meeting with my mentor, Father David.
Wednesday 14th May: Hand in final project.
It is now the deadline day, I have achieved all of the goals above (apart from the last one of course) and i am happy with my end result. I have found doing this project very enjoyable but it was also really interesting so I feel like I have achieved my goals. It has taught me a lot about how you have to overcome obstacles along the way and cross check several sources to make sure your information is correct. It has been a real learning curve and I presume George feels the same way. Time to hand it in.
